Leadership Accelerator

The greatest resource communities have when it comes to positive, sustainable change? Their own leaders. That's why the new Nonprofit Center Leadership Accelerator will gather 11 dynamic community changemakers from Jacksonville to accelerate their impact and build their networks.

WHAT IS THE LEADERSHIP ACCELERATOR?

The Leadership Accelerator invests in leaders making an impact in their community through a 12-month program that includes coaching, skills development, and network building, providing high-test fuel to propel their organizations. The Nonprofit Center annually selects a cohort of leaders who are ready to move their organizations toward maximum impact. Guided by the continuous, contextual, and collaborative approach that is central to the Nonprofit Center's philosophy.

What is the focus of the 2018-19 Accelerator?

This year's Nonprofit Center Leadership Accelerator focuses on community changemakers of color who head organizations – nonprofit or social benefit – working in the areas of workforce development, community development, or social entrepreneurship. Research shows that leaders of color are often excluded from traditional systems and institutional resources when it comes to solving issues facing their communities. The Accelerator invests in local leaders of color, blending proven capacity building practices with innovative collaboration and resources.

What happens in the Accelerator?

The Leadership Accelerator takes an assets-based approach, building on existing strengths and identifying opportunities for development. The Accelerator is also a place: cohort leaders work together, share experiences, and participate in a customized curriculum. Between June 2018 and May 2019, Community Changemakers will collectively work with Nonprofit Center experts to:

  • Develop a customized action plan for their organization
  • Create a personal leadership development strategy
  • Participate in 10 months of workshops, coaching, and peer learning
  • Maximize opportunities for collaboration, networking, and new community partnerships
  • Experience a powerful working environment in the Accelerator space at the Jessie Ball duPont Center
