Local Charitable Giving Website, WeGive.org®, Crosses $100,000 in Donations
WeGive.org ® passed an important donation milestone this week, topping $100,000 in small, local gifts to nonprofits in northeast Florida. Created and run by the Nonprofit Center of Northeast Florida as a service to the community, the online marketplace has helped over 250 nonprofits raise money for special projects or to meet urgent needs. Successful projects have included nights of shelter for domestic violence victims, blankets for the homeless, supplies for low- income mothers, and leadership training for volunteers working with youth with disabilities.
Easy to navigate, WeGive.org helps people find their perfect charitable match by sorting nonprofit projects by area of interest, such as Arts and Culture, or by an organization’s name. The website has supported 706 projects since its inception, and currently there are 85 active projects to choose from. WeGive.org gift cards are also available on the website and make a great thank you or alternative to the usual holiday gift.
“Donors tell us they feel both happy and smart using WeGive.org. They like selecting a local community project with personal meaning,” said Rena Coughlin, CEO. “Most projects encourage easy-to-make donations – $10 or $25 goes a long way on WeGive.org.”
Creative ways to use WeGive.org include:
• Purchase gift cards for your wedding party or office colleagues.
• Find volunteer opportunities and learn more about the nonprofit community.
• Teach children about philanthropy and share the joyful experience of giving, either at home or in the classroom.
• Support the Jaguars and your favorite WeGive.org project by purchasing single-game tickets through Give and Go.
