The Florida Department of Juvenile Justice civil citation initiative offers an alternative to arrest when a youth has a first-time misdemeanor. He or she has the opportunity to participate in intervention services at the earliest stage of delinquency. With the help of this effort early on, we can help shape the future of our youth.

You’ll learn:
• The definition of a civil citation and which common
offenses are eligible
• How civil citations impact juveniles
• Program details and why parents or guardians should
• How the civil citation program saves millions of dollars
• How to help make the program successful through community partnerships

Guest speaker:
L. E. Hutton, chief assistant state attorney, office of the
State Attorney, Fourth Judicial Circuit
