Description
State of the Arts has traditionally served as a luncheon and our annual report to the public. In 2017, we expanded the event to span a full-day after PNC Bank made a three-year, $150,000 commitment to non-profit arts organizations in Duval County through their Arts Alive Grant program. In 2018, we are slated to extend the event to a regional conference that includes impactful breakout sessions that will address a number of pressing issues, such as capacity building, how we communicate our identity as a city to others, the value of public art, the power of artists and arts organizations to stimulate social change, how communities are strengthened through cultural activities, and much, much more.

This year’s keynote is Barbara Goldstein (www.artbuildscommunity.com). For more than 30 years, Goldstein has specialized in the field of public art planning and creative placemaking. She is dedicated to creating and sustaining public spaces that engage communities through art and cultural events that promote healthy, flourishing, and equitable communities. Goldstein’s presentation is relevant and timely as the City of Jacksonville focuses on enhancing public spaces.

Registration for the conference is $30, which includes lunch. We are offering an early bird discount of $15 for any artist, cultural professional, or art educator who register for State of the Arts prior to August 18. Early bird discounts are limited to 100 registrants.
