Understanding how to become successful in grant writing and research can expand your funding streams that support your programs. This session is designed for the intermediate level grant writer interested in learning how to research, organize and draft successful proposals. The facilitator will review the elements of a proposal, explain how to integrate each into a grant, and discuss the process for conducting successful grant research.

About Cherrise:
Cherrise is a giver of information, guidance, counsel and mercy with a mission to serve others to meet their strategic goals, and find the resources they need. Ms. Wilks is an experienced executive with over 18 years in federal, state, local governments, nonprofit, and the private sector. Most recently she serves as a Grants Specialist for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and her expertise includes securing over $41 million in government and private grants and contracts. Additionally, she has directly managed department budgets of $40 million, project budgets of $300 million, and identified over $5.7 million in local government operational cost savings.

She is a contributing advisor and writer to eCivis, The Ferguson Group, Praetorian Digital, McAllister & Quinn, and the National Grants Management Association. Ms. Wilks holds a Bachelor’s degree from Florida State University, and a Master’s in Public Administration from the University of North Florida. Additionally, she holds professional credentials in Community Real Estate Development, Contract Management, and Grants Management. Her career has led her to work with the Florida Department of Children and Families, Florida House of Representatives, City of Jacksonville, City of Tampa, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and several private clients.
