We provide enriching after-school and summer camp programs for children from kindergarten through high school, focusing on academic support, leadership, life skills, and tennis. Job Summary
The Volunteer Program Coordinator is responsible for supporting the administration, coordination, and implementation of the MaliVai Washington Youth Foundation’s volunteer, mentor, and community partnership programs.
This is a full-time position reporting to the Program Director. The Volunteer Program Coordinator works closely with the program and development teams, as well as other full and part time staff, to ensure the successful delivery and growth of volunteer and mentorship initiatives.
The ideal candidate is highly organized and enjoys balancing hands-on engagement with students, volunteers, and community partners while also managing detailed administrative responsibilities. This individual must possess strong communication and relationship-building skills, be comfortable working in a dynamic environment, and be willing to maintain a flexible schedule that includes occasional evenings and Saturdays.
Essential duties and responsibilities
Provide support for the afterschool and summer programs, with a primary focus on volunteers, mentors, and community partners. MENTORS •Serve as the primary coordinator for the mentorship program, including mentor recruitment, onboarding, training, documentation, and retention. •Oversee the daily operation of the mentor room, ensuring all program policies and procedures are followed. •Support mentors throughout the program year by providing guidance, resources, and ongoing communication. VOLUNTEERS & PARTNERS •Assist with the recruitment of community partners, program partner organizations, and elective instructors. •Coordinate summer field trips, including securing destinations, transportation, and volunteer chaperones. •Coordinate volunteer opportunities and special events involving community partners, volunteers, and corporate groups, including scheduling, communication, reminders, and follow-up thank-you correspondence. •Coordinate community engagement activities such as supply drives, service projects, holiday programs, family engagement events, and one-day volunteer opportunities. •Represent the Foundation at recruitment and outreach events, including volunteer fairs, corporate events, college fairs, tennis league luncheons, civic organizations, etc. •Maintain accurate records of volunteer participation and track volunteer service hours. •Recruit, schedule, and supervise volunteer partners and chaperones for summer camp and other program activities. SPECIAL EVENTS •Coordinate and promote annual community support initiatives, including school supply drives, Thanksgiving basket distributions, holiday assistance programs, and spring-cleaning projects. •Oversee the planning and implementation of the Foundation’s holiday support programs, including Thanksgiving drive, Holiday Angels, and related initiatives. •Provide support for fundraising events, including volunteer recruitment, scheduling, and supervision for events such as the annual Gala, pickleball tournament, and other fundraising activities. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES •Attend meetings, training sessions, workshops, and professional development opportunities as required. •Drive Foundation vehicles for student transportation, program pick-ups and drop-offs, and field trips as assigned. •During program hours, provide support to mentors, volunteer groups, and special events; conduct classroom check-ins; and serve as a classroom substitute when necessary. •Assist the Elementary Program Manager as needed with curriculum and activity preparation. •Adhere to all Foundation policies, procedures, and safety standards. •Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management. Work Environment & Expectations •Approximate 40 hour work week; occasional overtime when required •Must be available Monday-Friday from 9:00-6:00 with occasional evening events. •Must be available to work occasional Saturdays and evenings as assigned Compensation & Benefits: •Non-exempt (hourly) position, salary commensurate with experience, $48,000-$50,000 •Paid time off, which increases with longevity •Paid holidays, including the week between Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day. •Health Benefits include 100% health for employees; optional health for family/dental/vision at employees' expense. •3% retirement match •Monthly wellness reimbursement •Professional Development •Additional details of the above to be provided upon interview.
Qualifications
•Bachelor's degree required; 0–2 years of relevant professional experience preferred. •Demonstrated passion for working with K–12 youth and adults, particularly those from underserved and low-income communities. •Commitment to positive youth development and the mission of MWYF. •Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate professionally and effectively in English. •Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required; experience with Canva, Adobe InDesign, or other graphic design platforms is a plus. •Excellent interpersonal, relationship-building, and collaboration skills. •Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. •Adaptable, flexible, and able to remain calm and productive in a fast-paced environment. •Willingness to complete all required training within the first 90 days of employment. •Valid Florida driver's license with a clean driving record for the past three years required. •Ability and willingness to drive Foundation vehicles, including passenger vans, after completing required training. •Must meet DCF Level 2 background screening requirements and successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening. •Physical Requirements: Must be able to work both indoors and outdoors and adapt to inclement weather; able to bend and lift up to 40 lbs.; while performing duties, employee is required regularly to sit, stand and walk as well as do frequent computer work. Salary/Salary Range
