Responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing the individual and corporate/foundation major donor program to meet the organization’s major gifts fundraising goal and build a donor base. This position is responsible for direct solicitation of gifts as well as for the coordination of others in additional cultivation and solicitation.
Essential duties and responsibilities
• Works collaboratively with Executive Director and Manager of Resource Development to establish criteria for major donor acquisition and involvement; develops strategies and tactics for each donor segment for review and approval by Manager of Resource Development. • Identifies the tools necessary to implement campaigns for each corporate and major donor segment; works collaboratively with Manager of Resource Development in design, content development and production to ensure that CRM message is consistent across donor segments. • Develop cultivation strategies for prospects, engage staff, or other organizational supporters as appropriate. • Monitors all prospect contacts to ensure positive and purposeful prospect and donor relations. • Participate in all aspects of the gift cycle: -Initiate contacts with potential leadership and major gift donors. -Develop appropriate cultivation strategies for them, including working with volunteers. -Move potential donors in an appropriate and timely fashion toward solicitation and closure. -Make solicitations when appropriate. -Maintain stewardship contacts with donors, adhere to the highest ethical standards, demonstrate empathetic disposition, reflect optimistic and positive attitude, and convey sensitivity to needs of the donors. -Move potential donors toward solicitation and closure • Identify existing regular donors who have the capacity to be major donors – these are donors that need to be identified that have the capacity to give major gifts, but who have only been giving smaller amounts. • Identify new contacts that have the potential to give major gifts – these are community leaders who have not had contact with the Mission, but have the potential to give large gifts. • Ensure the cultivation and solicitation of financial contributions at the corporate level from corporations that have already given. • Develop financial gifts from corporations that are currently involved with the Mission in non-financial programs with a goal of securing monetary gifts at the corporate level. • Develop non-financial participation from organizations that currently give monetary contributions. • Cultivate organizations that are not currently involved in any way with the City Rescue Mission. • Maintain consistent quality communications with donors in coordination with the Executive Director and Manager of Resource Development. • Develops and achieves targets for ensuring that all major donors receive at least two cultivation visits per year by senior CRM staff. • Identifies key influential groups, obtains mailing lists, cultivates opportunities for speaking opportunities, creates and manages effective mail campaigns. • Work closely with the Resource Development Team and offer help when others are in need. • Ensure quality communications following all gifts to provide thanks and documentation to donors • Implements the use of Raiser’s Edge contact management system including results of donor meetings, follow-up systems, and weekly progress reports. • Provides monthly analysis of major donor giving performance. • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Education and Experience
1. Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Public Relations, Communication or related field. 2. Four to six years of proven results in corporate business development and/or . 3. Proven knowledge of development/fundraising concepts and appropriate solicitation techniques. 4. Working knowledge of electronic social networking and the influence it has on donor solicitations. 5. Basic understanding of email campaigns and how they influence the giving culture. 6. Marketing and presentation skills. 7. Project management skills. 8. Proven ability to solicit gifts.
