This position functions as the lead for FSS in storytelling through clear, concise, innovative and consistent communications both internally and externally. They are adept in advancing the interests of FSS in the best possible light in public relations, advertising, campaigns/programs, and stakeholder communications. Primary responsibilities include writing press releases, newsletters, collateral and promotional materials, scriptwriting, web and social media content, etc. Responsible for developing and executing a social media marketing strategy in alignment with FSS strategy and goals. Also, responsible for assisting in the marketing and promotional efforts to support foster care and adoption efforts, as well as, programs and events specific to FSS. Responsible for the implementation of marketing communication plans, serve as project leader for marketing communication projects and monitors results of communications and tactics using results to evaluate and make recommendations. Assist with planning and coordinating projects including creative development of printed materials and other promotional materials by outside agencies. This position is located in the Community Development department and also assists with department and agency events as needed.

Essential duties and responsibilities

Assisting with marketing communication strategies (PR and Advertising) and campaigns while drafting, editing and releasing all internal and external communications including but not limited to: campaign collateral and/or tools to support Family Preservation/Foster Care/Adoption, flyer copy as needed, newsletters, press releases, scripts, annual reports, infographics, and other relevant communications. Works directly with outside marketing, PR firms and other contractors for collaboration as needed. Metrics and tracking/monitoring of metrics where applicable. Digital and Social Strategies inclusive of website, social media and execution of strategies inclusive of but not limited to: content mining and management, social media monitoring, messaging, scheduling, posting and managing, copywriting. Includes event coverage and photography coverage as needed, along with event communication support. Metrics and tracking/monitoring of metrics. Monthly reporting (or as frequently as required) of media activity and coverage and daily monitoring for reputation management. Also responsible for oversight of donor, corporate sponsor, volunteer and community partner thank you and communications and assisting with budget setting and monitoring. Oversee administering of department and organizational calendar of events, programs. Volunteering for various FSS, Community Development events/programs. Special projects.

Qualifications

Three to five years of experience in the following: Public Relations, Marketing Communications in a non- profit or corporate setting. Ability to: • Develop and maintain extensive knowledge about FSS programs and services • Communicate effectively through writing including newspaper articles, presentations, speeches, reports, correspondence, and documentation. • Adjust writing style for various demographic audiences • Work collaboratively with the media, vendors, peers, and management staff. • Speak effectively before small and large groups • Multi-task and manage a variety of activities and projects simultaneously • Represent self and the organization in a professional manner Knowledge of: • Communities FSS serves • Variety of local social service agencies/organizations. • Social Media, Marketing and Communications • Local Media and Contacts • AP style format • Photography Skills: • Strong organizational and time management skills. • Strong networking skills and ability to follow through on commitments, projects and responsibilities. • Proficiency in Excel, Microsoft Word, and PowerPoint.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Communications or Public Relations. Three to five years of relevant experience.
