The Marketing & Community Relations Coordinator (“MCRC”) is responsible for creating content and promotion to support the fundraising, brand awareness, and community services of Lutheran Social Services. The MCRC will also support the stewardship of donors and sponsors. This position reports to the Director of Development and Marketing and oversees the social media support position. Candidates interested in this position must enjoy working independently and collaboratively. Strong written and verbal communication skills are critical to success in this position due to the nature of interaction with donors, sponsors, board members, external vendors, and the media.
Essential duties and responsibilities
• Strategic planning, content creation and oversight of LSS social media platforms to include: Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube and other platforms; promote organic and paid opportunities to engage and grow LSS donors and public awareness of LSS services. • Support the Director of Development and Marketing with marketing, public relations, and donor/sponsor relations as directed. • Work with team members to ensure all sponsor and partner benefits are executed per sponsor agreements. • Donor and corporate/business partner outreach and stewardship - engaging verbally, electronically, in person and/or by phone. • Work and manage projects with Agency of Record, ensuring details and deadlines for projects and campaigns are executed accordingly. • Writing, editing and coordination of LSS newsletters, blog, direct mail campaigns, collateral development, invitations and press releases. • Oversight of website content, edits, etc. • Assist in the creation of LSS stories to promote brand awareness. • Design of collateral, flyers, graphics, video and other marketing materials. • Coordinate and assist with virtual and in-person event execution. • Other duties as assigned
Required • Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to write reports, correspondence, edit text for content and accuracy, creative writing skills. • Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts for applicable reports. Simple math, calculations are required such as adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, compute rate and percent. • Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables with a minimum of direction. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written or oral form. • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office • Demonstrated knowledge of Adobe Suite and video editing software. • Minimum of 3- 5 years of marketing, social media management, communications, and fundraising experience. Preferred • Experience working in a nonprofit environment. • Email campaign management using Constant Contact or other email software.
