The Summer Camp Counselor, also known as a “coach”, is primarily responsible for supervising and mentoring elementary and middle school students in the Sanctuary on 8th Street’s six-week summer camp program. A Summer Camp Coach must be a team-player who shows up on time and is energetic with children, and must be available to work weekdays 8 AM to 5 PM from June 8th through July 17th.

Essential duties and responsibilities
Summer Camp Coaches supervise and mentor students in elementary and middle school attending the Sanctuary's six-week summer camp program. Each coach will be assigned a specific age group to work with throughout the summer. Duties include: • Monitoring students during designated activities while ensuring safety • Attending staff meetings and trainings to ensure proper implementation of the curriculum activities • Designing and leading age-specific enrichment activities • Providing feedback to Executive Director on the success of activities to ensure highest quality programming • Other duties as assigned. • Summer camp staff members report to the Executive Director.
• The position requires a Level 2 background screening and drug screening. • Applicants must have a valid Florida Driver's License and reliable transportation to and from work. • Must be able to work from 8AM to 5PM Monday through Friday, from June 8th through July 17th, and be available for training the week prior to the start of camp. • CPR and first aid certification is a plus. • Teacher certification is also a plus. • Flexibility is a must when working with children.
Education and Experience
• Applicants must have a high school diploma and be at least 18 years old. • Some college is preferred. • Experience working with children is preferred. • CPR and first aid certification is a plus. • Teacher certification is also a plus.
$12-$16 per hour, depending on experience
