BEAM’s Mission – providing emergency assistance and a path to economic stability. Beaches Emergency Assistance Ministry, Inc. (BEAM) is a 501(c)(3) community-based nonprofit organization serving low-income residents that live or work in the Jacksonville Beaches area in Northeast Florida. BEAM serves its clients by providing financial assistance, case management, educational and vocational counseling for single parent families, support services for the elderly, and a wide range of referrals to partnering agencies. BEAM operates a Food Bank that collects and distributes food to multiple local sites, including two food pantries managed by BEAM. BEAM also conducts mobile food pantries at local schools and churches and offers meal distribution to homebound seniors. BEAM’s Grace Garden provides a supply of fresh produce that is distributed through the food assistance programs. BEAM operates a multi-site thrift store enterprise that generates a source of sustainable income. This compliments a healthy balance of donor revenue from individual, corporate, and church-based monetary and in-kind support, as well as grant-based income. With its 38-year history in the local community, BEAM offers the opportunity to lead an established, well-respected, growing organization.
Essential duties and responsibilities
We are seeking a highly motivated, experienced, and visionary leader to serve as BEAM’s Executive Director. The successful candidate will lead BEAM in achieving its mission, expanding its reach and impact, and ensuring the sustainability of the organization. The Executive Director will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the organization including strategic planning, fundraising, financial management, program development, advocacy, and community engagement. The Executive Director works with a multi-talented and diverse staff, as well as hundreds of dedicated volunteers that are driven to fulfill the mission of BEAM.

Executive Director Qualifications As the leader of the organization, the Executive Director of BEAM must be able to demonstrate: • Capacity to be a strong advocate and public representative for BEAM and its clients • Ability to lead, develop, inspire, and support a diverse team of staff and volunteers • Knowledge of non-profit finance and budgeting and strong financial management skills • Proven success in fundraising and development • Ability to build and sustain healthy, trust-based relationships with board members • Ability to build and sustain positive partnerships with a variety of partners/stakeholders • Strong strategic thinking, planning and execution skills • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; effective public speaking ability • Cultural competence, emotional intelligence, and strong collaboration skills • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment • Passion for BEAM’s mission and a commitment to the community
Education and Experience
Education and Experience The successful candidate will have: • A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; Master’s degree in a relevant field preferred • Minimum of 5 years of senior leadership experience in a nonprofit and/or social services environment • Successful experience in a volunteer-centric environment • Experience with program assessment, development, and outcome-based evaluation • Effective change management experience • Experience in cultivating relationships with donors and securing major gifts and grants • Experience managing an annual budget of at least $5 million • Knowledge of the issues and challenges facing the community and clients served by BEAM Benefits: Performance based bonus plan Health Insurance offered PTO plan
Salary/Salary Range
$125,000 – 155,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
