Description
Reporting to and working in close collaboration with the Executive Director and Board of Directors, the Director of Development creates and executes the implementation of a strategic approach to fundraising which includes major gifts, annual fund, grants, corporate giving, and special events.
Essential duties and responsibilities
• Provide leadership and management of all fundraising efforts. • Provide direct staff support to the Board Development Committee in partnership with the Executive Director. Provides staff support to all other fundraising sub-committees. • Creates and executes strategies to retain and grow the support base, which includes individuals, corporations, charitable foundations, and additional sources. • Builds a major gifts program including identification, cultivation, and solicitation of major donors, with gifts to annual, capital, and endowment efforts included in the organizations strategic plan. • Creates and establishes relationships with prospective donors and supporters on a continual basis to establish effective communications. • Directs and grows the annual fund program, endowment, planned giving including the establishment of giving levels, solicitation mailings and annual fundraising drives. • Supports grant writing and reporting. • Spearhead development special events. • Leads marketing activities including oversite and updates for BEAM website. Creates annual report and newsletters. • Makes public appearances and attends networking events to spread awareness and share information about BEAM’s work in the community. • Supervises the work of the Development Coordinator to assure maintenance of donor database, production of correspondence, creating of marketing materials, submission of press releases and other duties as contained in each positions job description. Contracts with Graphic Designers, Website Developers and Printers as needed.

Education and Experience
• A bachelor’s degree and five years’ minimum experience in professional fundraising. • Proven success in development in the nonprofit sector. • Experience in planning, leading, and managing development projects, including coordinating with staff and volunteers to achieve desired outcomes, tracking and reporting on progress to Executive Director and Board of Directors.
Salary/Salary Range
$70,000 - $75,000
