Employment Support Specialist

Full-Time: Hours will vary to include nights and weekends


Description: Trains for the success of employees with differing abilities for employment at Challenge Enterprises. Ensures documentation is in compliance with Challenge Enterprises and regulatory requirements for qualifying individuals with disabilities. Work is performed under general direction with considerable latitude in the use of initiative. Position relies on experience and exercises independent judgment based on subject-matter expertise.

Essential duties and responsibilities

Responsibilities and duties of this position include: Follow all Challenge Enterprises of North Florida, Inc.'s policies and procedures as set forth in the Board of Director's approved Personnel Handbook. Promote the Agency's Mission- To promote "The Power of People and Possibilities" for individuals living with a disability Provides onsite employee training and provides any additional assistance where needed. Must have the physical ability and flexibility to learn the job on each site to help provide the onsite training. Completes Individual Eligibility Evaluations (IEEs) and employment plans for all assigned employees. This requires the collection of qualifying disability paperwork and ensures regulatory standards are met. Supports the employee's ability to succeed through the exploration of reasonable accommodations. Assists in training individuals, supervisors, project managers, and senior project managers in the application and effectiveness of accommodations on an ongoing basis. Provides or facilitates employee services and assistance to help employees achieve their goals. Ensures proper classification of employees and submits changes in Great Plains and/or MITC including pay, position and status changes, and coding. Assists with evaluation and resolution of employee issues and performance improvement strategies. Partners with recruiters and management to assist with the recruitment process. This may include creating job requisitions in the applicant tracking system, interviewing candidates, developing, and maintaining referral sources; attending job fairs and hiring events as needed. Assists with onboarding new employees including accurate and timely completion of required paperwork. Assists on-site project manager, supervisors, and senior project manager with coaching employees on proper workplace etiquette and performance. May participate in developing strategic action plans for various initiatives, including the Quality Work Environment (QWE) initiative. Ability to conduct safety meetings on site with all employees by documenting meeting agenda and proof of attendance of all employees. Assist in recruiting efforts and job fairs when required. Other duties as assigned.


Must have great organizational and communication skills. Job coach/Employment specialist certificate preferred Confidentiality a MUST and pass HIPAA certification training along with Zero Tolerance. Must be flexible in work schedule and able to work varied hours which will include nights and weekends. Ability to work independently Prefer experience in Great Plains, but not required. Must have experience in working with computers including Microsoft 365. Must be able to understand written and oral instructions and follow through efficiently. Must speak fluent English and sign language preferred, but not required. Must be able to stand, sit, bend, climb, stoop and lift to 25 pounds. Must have a clean driving record. Knowledge, skills, and abilities: Knowledge of principles and methods for providing instruction to employees of differing abilities. Knowledge of safe work practices. Communication Requirements: Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively verbally Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively nonverbally in utilizing the technology available

Education and Experience

Associates degree in a related field or a combination of education, certification, and experience may suffice for education. Prefer at least one year of human resources and training experience. Must satisfy APD Level 2 background screening requirements with the State of Florida. Must be able to pass Federal Background Check Prefer two or more years of experience working with individuals living with different abilities.
