Description

Working with the Advancement Team, the Director of Development will support and expand City Year Jacksonville’s philanthropic initiatives, including management of grants, corporate sponsors and individual, mid-level and major gifts that support the organization. Reporting to the Managing Director
of Advancement, the Director of Development will be responsible for developing a strategy to create and grow a sustainable revenue pipeline of prospective investors. This position will also manage the Communications and Events Manager.

Essential duties and responsibilities

• Work closely with the Managing Director of Advancement to build a strong, sustainable philanthropic infrastructure for the organization that integrates the highest level of efficient and effective fundraising strategies and tactics. • Identify prospects, cultivate, and solicit individual, corporate and foundation donors with special emphasis on unrestricted giving to meet goals. Steward and build strong relationships with investors. • Establish and grow a recurring giving program for individual mid-level donors. • Manage donor and sponsor benefits, acknowledgements, stewardship activities and programs. • Working with the Communications and Events Manager, develop a coordinated matrix of communication and solicitation strategies involving email, direct mail, personal solicitation, and volunteer engagement with the goal of increasing sustainable, annual support. • Concept and execute City Year annual external programs and events alongside the Communications and Events Manager, which could include but are not limited to: Opening Day Kickoff, MLK Day, Fundraising gala/events, and Graduation. • Ensure that the donor CRM database is accurate and up to date. • Work closely with the Regional Grant Writer to manage all funding applications and reporting deadlines. Research and identify new grant opportunities. • Attend and supervise donor and prospect cultivation events and stewardship opportunities. • Quickly, courteously, and efficiently handle concerns, questions, and needs of donors and partners. • Ensure proper representation of donor identity commitments and recognition, including signage, website, magazine, and other applicable promotional material. • Other job duties as assigned. Organizational Initiatives & Site Support • Serve as a member of the City Year senior leadership team (SLT), providing strategic insight into site priorities. • Work collaboratively with other site departments, other City Year sites, and City Year headquarters on a frequent basis. • Support and attend all major site events, including fundraisers, service days, trainings and other activities and initiatives. • Partner with other departments and staff to ensure that site-wide goals are met, including, but not limited to, fundraising, the AmeriCorps member applicant interview process, stakeholder engagement, event and service day participation, and cross-departmental committees • Attend internal and external engagement and training activities throughout the year

Qualifications

• Related work experience or Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred • 3 to 5 years professional experience in non-profit development. • Demonstrated background in achieving revenue goals, strategic objectives and assigned Key Performance Indicators. • Outstanding persuasive written and oral communication skills, as well as interpersonal and organizational skills. • Ability to provide superior customer service for all organization stakeholders. • Ability to communicate effectively and with diplomacy when interacting with vendors, staff, volunteers and the public. • Knowledge of donor research techniques. • Strong contributor in team environments with ability to handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines. • Experience working in deadline-driven environments while maintaining strong attention to detail. • Database management required. Salesforce experience preferred. • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook).

Salary/Salary Range
