Congregation Ahavath Chesed is a warm and dynamic Reform Temple with approximately 500 families located in Jacksonville, Florida. Our family is searching for a creative and energetic professional with experience in informal education and communications to strengthen engagement within our community.

There are two parts to the portfolio of this brand-new position.

Essential duties and responsibilities

Youth Experiential Engagement: We are seeking an engaging and responsible adult to create and grow innovative and experiential classes, programs and trips for students. This person will be a partner for and collaborator with our Temple’s Religious School, Temple Institute of Religion (TIR), assisting clergy, education staff and lay leaders in empowering students to access their Jewish identities and deepening their connections to the Temple community. Job Responsibilities ● Plan and oversee Youth Group programming for grades K-12, with a special focus on JAFTY (9th-12th grade) ● Coordinate Madrichim program, teaching classroom aides needed skills, assigning classrooms, and providing a consistent experience ● Leadership training for post-B’nai Mitzvah students, both general skills and skills needed for JAFTY Board positions ● Teach post-B’nai Mitzvah class ● Assist clergy and lay leaders in coordinating and supervising off-site day trips and mitzvah projects for all ages ● Outreach to unengaged teens and their parents ● Maintain regular communication with Youth Group members and parents; provide promotional materials for events ● Recruit students to participate in Youth Programming and run for the JAFTY Board ● Foster relationships with Temple students and families, during and outside of school hours ● Help JAFTY maintain a connection with NFTY, and attend NFTY retreats with students when applicable ● Assist with and accompany rabbi on High School weekend trip ● Participate in events related to teens/post-B’nai Mitzvah ● Attend certain Shabbat services, B’nai Mitzvah and holidays ● Collaborate with local organizations where applicable ● Be a Jewish role model Communications: This person will also be an organized and social-media savvy individual, so that they can maintain and update a communications plan and create compelling digital content for the Temple. They will work closely with clergy, staff, and volunteers to prepare marketing materials and emails promoting programs, events, and the synagogue as a whole. Job Responsibilities ● Develop and implement marketing content and monitor its success in order to further organizational goals ● Design and produce weekly emails, newsletters/magazine every three months, flyers and other promotional materials ● Manage the Temple’s social media presence and strategize how to best promote content ● Monitor and edit the Congregation’s website ● Maintain email and mail distribution lists ● Be able to respond to inquiries regarding programming


An ideal candidate has: ● Passion for synagogue life and sharing it with others ● Understanding of and commitment to the mission and values of our Temple and the Reform Movement ● Experience with event-planning and creating inclusive environments ● Ability to communicate patiently and sensitively ● Computer savvy, including social media, Canva and Google Suite (Gmail and Google Drive); familiarity with or willingness to learn Mailchimp, WordPress website management and video editing ● Creativity and desire to innovate as a self-starter ● Organizational and project-management skills ● Ability to work Tuesdays-Fridays and during school hours on Sundays To apply, send cover letter and resume to Rabbi Maya Glasser:

Salary/Salary Range

Compensation ● Salary range of $50-60k plus health insurance ● Three weeks paid vacation ● Temple membership
