The Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting with daily operations of the facility and serves as a link between the Psychiatrists and the patients. He or she is responsible for greeting patients, taking vital signs and participation in performance and quality improvement projects.
Essential duties and responsibilities
Records client vital signs (blood-pressure, pulse, temperature, height,T weight, BMI) in a safe and appropriate manner and document results in client medical record. Consistently maintains client confidentiality and agency security policies. Pull and organize client charts per the daily doctor schedules. Execute sound judgment by regarding the well being of the client for medical evaluation and vital stats acquisition. Ensures that documentation in client’s files, nursing log and other sources (e.g. Incident reports) are accurate and completed in agency prescribed guidelines. Facilitate and or assist with completion of required Medicaid/insurance paperwork including informed consent and prior authorizations. Contacts the agency Psychiatrist(s) when necessary for consultation as it pertains to treatment of the client. Facilitate and/or assist with requests for medication refills. Processes medical records requests. Recognizes, reports and documents appropriate changes and concerns including signs and symptoms of complications or change in status through interaction with clients prior to their meeting with doctor. Identify and participate in performance and quality improvement activities to include periodic medical chart review. Provide assistance with coverage of the front desk/reception area as needed. Provide assistance with filing medical paperwork/documentation into the appropriate client record. Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of the client needs based on the age and functioning level of the client. Models appropriate and professional behavior (i.e., dress, habits, personality, tact, etc.) Relates with clients, parents, peers and the general public in a respectful and professional manner in person and phone interaction. Performs other duties that may be assigned. Monday - Wednesday 8a-5, Thursday - Friday, as needed.

Education and Experience
High School Diploma required Current Medical Assistant Certification required to apply. 1 year of relevant experience Experience with EMR's
Salary $14.00 - $16.80 per hour
