The Fresh Futures Youth Program Coordinator is responsible for overseeing various program areas within the youth, teen, and family programs; primarily working with teens (9th-12th grade). The incumbent develops, implements and facilitates quality educational and enrichment programming to the teens and their family while ensuring a safe, fun and positive environment. The principle strategies for implementing programs involve direct outreach to community residents and schools, management of on-site programming and off-site enrichment activities and student retention.
Essential duties and responsibilities
Occupational specific tasks and the most important generalized work activities are listed for the Fresh Futures Youth Program Coordinator • Plan and Implement Programming: Develop, customize and deliver educational and recreational activities for teens that involves tutoring, workshops, enrichment outings (field trips), college prep and career readiness. Programs are designed to foster students’ academic success, with a special emphasis on teaching basic soft skills and employability skills. Administer assessments, screenings and measures as required by the curriculum. Monitor program curriculum for training delivery and effectiveness. • Supervise Volunteers: Coordinate and supervise volunteers to work as tutors/mentors to help meet program objectives and other community needs. • Collect and Manage Data to Meet Grant Requirements: Use systems to collect data on program performance and student outcomes. Compile and enter relevant data in database. Assist with the development of new ideas for future grant projects and provide qualitative anecdotes to support grant reports. • Partnerships: Maintain contact with Duval County Schools, teachers and counseling staff and other community partners that aid in the implementation and continuation of the Fresh Futures Youth Program. • Communications: Maintain an active social media presence on Fresh Futures’ social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram). Perform administrative duties which support the Youth, Teen and Family programs. • Represent the organization and program in community meetings including meetings with program partner organizations and participating employers. Attend monthly meetings in support of the Youth, Teen and Family programs.
Qualifications
• Must develop, implement and be willing to participate in quality on and off-site program activities and outreach events. • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, MS Office proficiency required. • Strong motivation and the ability to work independently. • Passion and interest in working with children and teens. • Knowledge of individual differences in ability, personality and interests; and, knowledge of learning styles, motivation techniques, group dynamics and how to manage large groups (40-60 students). • Experience providing academic support and/or case management to teens. • Ability to interact with a diverse population of clients both in terms of age, economic status and cultural background. • CPR, AED, First Aid and other work-related certifications required within 30 days of hire • Ability to work occasional weekends and 2-3 weeknights during the school year.
Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience in Social Work, Education and Human Services preferred. • Minimum of one (1) year of experience working within Youth, Teen or Family programming.
Salary/Salary Range
45,000-50,000 + Benefits
