Are you interested in an opportunity to make a big difference in a rewarding position with excellent compensation and benefits and room to grow? Be a haven of hope at Hope Haven! Serve as a role model during out of school time activities for individuals ages 3-22 with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Work in small groups of about 10 youth providing structured out of school activities including after school, day camp, summer recreation and career camp programs focused on having fun and making new friends. Activities include arts and crafts, music therapy, STEM programs, and health and wellness. All services take place on campus.
Essential duties and responsibilities
* Supervise and support participants during activities. Promote safety and respect among all participants, team members and families. * Ensure a friendly and supportive atmosphere and manage participant behavior. * Prepare materials for activities and lessons. * Respond to the individual needs of each child by working with the participants during activities. * Supervise and assist participant's toileting and first aid needs. * Facilitate the safe transportation of participants on field trips in company van. * Clean work area and ensure the safe storage of equipment as directed. Open and close facilities when needed. * Monitor and evaluate participants to provide feedback for the client's individual development plan goals. * Complete all required Department of Child and Families procedures and documentation. * Check email, calendar, participate in team meetings and communicate with other staff members. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
* Sight and sound supervision ability * Bending, kneeling and lifting 30 pounds * Basic Microsoft Office skills * Criteria for driving is a minimum of 21 years of age * Valid FL Driver's license * Transportation safety training * Department of Children and Families 45 hour training certificate program which can be obtained during employment * Department of Education Physical and Drug Screening
Education and Experience
* High school diploma or equivalent * Child-related work experience * Prior experience working with children or adults with special needs preferred.
Salary/Salary Range
$15.00 - $18.00
