The Housing Support Specialist is fully accountable for all day to day property operations, securing and overseeing the inventory of leased properties, and fulfilling all HUD funding requirements for the properties managed.
Essential duties and responsibilities
A partial list of responsibilities includes: Housing Support Specialist is responsible for new participant applications and screenings. Housing Support Specialist is responsible for all leasing matters related to the property under management and landlord negotiations. Maintains real-time inventory of all available units within HUD fair market rent rates within Metro Jacksonville Area. Performs all Grant Management duties for HUD and related housing grants, including maintenance of participant files, landlord records, etc. Maintains professional relations with and provides assistance to tenants, grantees, community property managers, other Human Service agencies, staff, etc. Creates and maintains a high-performance environment. Performs work according to all rules, regulations, policies and guidelines. All duties and requirements are essential job functions. Must be able to read, write and speak English. A valid driver’s license and dependable transportation required. Vehicle insurance must be maintained. Must meet eligibility requirements for Hubbard House, Inc. vehicle insurance coverage. Must be able to produce proof of eligibility to work in the United States (E-Verify). Due to the serious nature of our mission, applicants chosen to move forward in the hiring process must submit to the following: 1) a level-2 background screening which includes a criminal background check through the Department of Family and Children (DCF), Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), and the National Sex Offender Registry (at a minimum); 2) a motor vehicle report (MVR) is also run against the Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV); and 3) a drug, alcohol, and TB screening. Experience in one or more of the following is a plus: sexual assault, domestic violence programs, bi-lingual. Education and Experience
HS diploma or GED with at least four years applicable experience required. Relevant experience working as a Certified Apartment Manager (CAM) or Accredited Resident Manager (ARM) or experience working HUD Rapid Rehousing or Permanent Supported Housing programs, or Section 8 Housing Voucher programs recommended.
