The Community Engagement Coordinator (CEC) works with a professional team focused on raising awareness about domestic violence and public support for Hubbard House. The CEC is responsible for the volunteer program, including recruiting, training, and placing volunteers. Working closely with the Chief Development Officer, they coordinate two signature events for the agency, donor events, and third-party community events. The CEC also coordinates social media for the agency.

Essential duties and responsibilities

1. Coordinates Hubbard House’s volunteer program. a. Recruits, screens, trains, places and retains volunteers and interns for the agency. b. Recruits and coordinates volunteers for agency events. c. Coordinates the Survivor Auxiliary Committee for the Agency. d. Schedules and conducts volunteer orientation. e. Develops volunteer job descriptions based on Hubbard House identified needs. f. Facilitates positive volunteer/staff relationships, acting as a liaison between volunteers and the agency to ensure that staff and volunteers are prepared for role or project. g. Implement volunteer recognition and retention efforts. h. Manages individual, group and specialized volunteers. Oversees the volunteer schedule for community education booths. i. Assists with conflict resolution according to established procedures. j. Ensures volunteer policies and procedures are followed. Reviews policies and procedures regularly to ensure consistency and compliance. k. Maintain volunteer records and assure compliance with regulating standards. l. Maintain and submit statistical reports and volunteer hours tracking, as required. m. Evaluation of strategies and the program 2. Develop and manage content for social media platforms, including strategy, content creation and monitoring with a special focus on raising awareness of domestic violence, distributing the hotline number, raising public support and building relationships of trust with the community. 3. Implement the annual domestic violence awareness month social media campaign. 4. Coordinate logistics, digital marketing, volunteers, and donor/community engagement for two signature awareness events. 5. In conjunction with the team, coordinate donor stewardship activities to include donor relations, events, acknowledgement and recognition, and engagement with Hubbard House. 6. Supports the agency’s communications plan, as assigned. Develops content, as assigned, to include written, verbal, digital, audiovisual, etc. 7. Coordinate the agency’s annual holiday Adopt-a-Family event and United Way campaign. 8. Other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.


The position requires a clear communicator, both verbal and written, and someone with high standards around work ethic, collaboration, organization and detail. Position requires local and occasional out of town travel. Must be flexible in working hours which will include evenings and weekends to attend events, volunteer projects, etc. Experience in Microsoft Office (or equivalent) is required and experience with Raiser’s Edge is preferred. A valid driver’s license and dependable transportation required. Vehicle insurance must be maintained. Must meet eligibility requirements for Hubbard House, Inc. vehicle insurance coverage. All applicants must pass a level-2 background screening.

Education and Experience

A Bachelor's degree in social work, education, public administration, marketing, communication, or related field (equivalent experience considered). Two years of experience in volunteer management, social media, events or communications preferred. Experience in one or more of the following is a plus: sexual assault, domestic violence programs, bi-lingual. Bilingual abilities a plus. Supervisor experience a plus. HS diploma, GED, or equivalent considered with applicable experience.
