The Mission of the Jacksonville Area Sexual Minority Youth Network (JASMYN) is to support and empower lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) youth by creating safe space, providing youth development services and bringing people and resources together to promote diversity and human rights.

JASMYN is seeking to hire a HIV Testing and Outreach Specialist that is responsible for the marketing, outreach and recruitment individuals at high risk for HIV and HIV testing and counseling.

Essential duties and responsibilities

• HIV Testing o Conduct rapid HIV testing including pre- and post-test counseling o Serve as lead HIV tester at JASMYN during Daily HIV Testing hours o Serve as lead HIV tester at off campus testing events and programs o Assist with HIV testing and counseling at JASMYN’s weekly Sexual Health Clinic as needed o Provide personalized cognitive counseling PCC services. o Provide Testing Together (couples testing) o Assist with training HIV testers o Other duties as assigned Outreach o Online and in person outreach with high risk young people to encourage HIV Testing on the JASMYN campus, offsite at all testing locations, on JASMYN’s social media accounts o Coordinate JASMYN’s social media outreach efforts o Coordinate JASMYN’s online outreach efforts around HIV prevention to YMSM o Work outreach opportunities including community information fairs & conferences, HIV testing at night clubs and other off-site venues o Engage youth in outreach and recruitment opportunities for HIV testing and health services o Enroll membership into JASMYN through HIV Testing o Assist as needed with the coordination of all safety net resources; food pantry, food fest, bus tokens, JASMYN resource guide and community referral lists o Responsible for the creation of HIV testing and outreach marketing materials both print and social media format o Assist with the Youth Advisory Board that will provide input for HIV related programming and testing and counseling o Work closely with youth to assist them with their identified needs and internal linkages and community referrals; provide supportive services to youth at the drop in center • Data Collection and Report Management o Document and report all services performed according to all requirements in JASMYN’s internal data base o Provide monthly reports as related to HIV testing and Outreach roles and responsibilities o Update client’s file throughout program stay, ensure that client files are complete and accurate.


• • Experience with HIV testing, counseling • Experience in social and economic problems related to housing needs for those in a lower income bracket. • Minimum of two years of working with adolescents • Ability to relate to teens and young adults in an accepting, positive and healthy manner • Ability to facilitate resource brokerage and referrals • Demonstrated experience in positive youth development • Ability to work in a team environment • Data management experience preferred, including familiarity with Excel or other data management software • Ability to coordinate multiple responsibilities and prepare regular reports • Strong assessment skills and ability to document and prioritize needs • Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds • Familiarity and sensitivity in dealing with the unique needs of LGBTQ+ youth • Familiarity with HIV prevention, testing and treatment community preferred • Experience incorporating the perspectives of multiple communities, including communities of color, in the consideration of impacts and outcomes of a decision-making process. • An understanding of the concepts of institutional and structural racism and bias and their impact on underserved and underrepresented communities. • Must pass criminal background checks • Current FL driver’s license and clean driving record

Education and Experience

BA in social work or a related field such as education, public health, social welfare or psychology from an accredited university or 3-5 years work experience in public health.
