The Adult Day HealthCare (ADHC) Manager provides, oversees and facilitates a welcoming, nurturing, stimulating and enjoyable daily program of therapeutic activities as well as staff assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) for seniors with chronic illness, dementia, Alzheimer’s disease and other cognitive deficits while members are present in ADHC. This program provides needed respite for members’ caregivers.

Essential duties and responsibilities

The Adult Day HealthCare Manager oversees all activities associated with the day-to-day operations of the Adult Day HealthCare facility. Provides a safe environment that stimulates dementia patients with entertaining activities. Greets each senior on arrival, assesses and monitors each client on arrival and throughout their day. Updates the appropriate staff of any changes in Member’s condition and/or necessary changes to the Care Plan. Hires appropriately trained individuals with knowledge and experience in the care of seniors with dementia. Interviews and assesses prospective clients for the ADHC Program to see if they are suitable candidates for the Adult Day HealthCare program. Updates staff after daily review of schedule and fine-tunes each activity as necessary to meet the capacity of each Member. Obtains vital signs and dispenses medications per doctor’s orders. Ensures proper charting and documentation of medications and their results. Charts pertinent information for each ADHC Member as needed and communication of any changes to caregiver. Ensures that all necessary supplies are available for the ADHC center including craft and activity supplies, consumables, and cleaning supplies. Assists with client activities and client care. Records daily attendance as well as recording lunches and menus. Assists callers and provides support to caregivers with information and encouragement concerning seniors with dementia. Markets the Adult Day HealthCare program by providing invitations to prospective Members, distributing business cards and brochures at health fairs and other events. Hosts monthly Alzheimer’s Caregiver Support Group meetings. Recruits volunteers to assist with activities and outings for the ADHC. Coordinates transportation services for Members of the ADHC to and from the ADHC and coordinates transportation for outings. Prepares monthly activity calendar for Members/Caregivers and give copy to Marketing department to post on NCCOA website. Creates and implements client satisfaction surveys.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: The Adult Day HealthCare Manager must possess a working knowledge of the community care system. Therefore, the Adult Day HealthCare Manager must be knowledgeable about the array of community-based services and resources available to address the needs of clients and their caregivers with dementia. CPR and First Aid Certified. HIPPA trained and certified. Alzheimer ’s Disease Initiative trained and certified (may be completed after hire). Certified Food Safety Manager. Must have knowledge of obstacles facing the aging and vulnerable population. Excellent verbal communication skills Excellent writing skills. Microsoft office skills (word, excel, power point, etc.). Professionalism

Education and Experience

Five (5) years experience working with dementia patients preferred. Experience working with the elderly or other vulnerable population in a customer focused environment. Must be Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse. Must be able to pass the Level 2 background check required by DOEA. Must adhere to Drug Free Workplace standards. Must have use of personal vehicle for outreach and home visiting purposes. Must have a valid driver’s license.

Salary/Salary Range

$41,600 per year
