The After-School Enrichment Specialist, also known as a “coach”, is primarily responsible for supervising and mentoring elementary and middle school students in the Sanctuary on 8th Street’s after-school program. An after-school specialist must be a team-player who shows up on time, is energetic, has patience to work with children, and has the drive to learn strategies to better serve at-hope youth.
Essential duties and responsibilities
Enrichment specialists supervise and mentor students in elementary and middle school attending the after-school program. Duties include: Monitoring students during designated activities; Assisting students with homework; Attending staff meetings and trainings to ensure proper implementation of the curriculum activities; Designing and leading age-specific enrichment activities; Providing feedback to Executive Director on the success of activities to ensure highest quality programming; Other duties as assigned. After-school staff members report to the Executive Director.
The position requires a Level 2 background screening and is subject to drug screening. Applicants must have a valid Florida Driver's License and reliable transportation to and from work. Completion of Dept. of Children & Families child care personnel mandated training is a plus (if not already completed, all employees must take 40 hours of online training). CPR & First Aid training a plus (if not already completed, will need to be completed upon hire) Must be able to work 12-17 hours a week during the after-school program. Must be able to work between the hours of 2:45 – 5:45 on weekdays during the school year. If interested, there will be the opportunity to work over our 6-week summer camp as well, but this is not a job requirement.
Education and Experience
Applicants must have a high school diploma. Some college is preferred. Experience working with children is preferred. Certified teachers a plus.
$13 - $18 per hour, depending on education and experience
