FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Hours: Full Time.

Summary
The Meal Supervisor will supervise meal preparation and service and will work with guest and volunteer kitchen workers directing and assisting them to whatever degree is necessary.
This position requires a flexible schedule. Shifts include early mornings, nights and weekends. The work schedule will vary and will change according to staffing needs and include nights, weekdays, weekends and some holidays.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential duties and responsibilities

Prepare and serve breakfast, lunch, dinner, diabetic snacks, sack meals, late plates, and refreshments for special events. Supervise and coordinate activities of guest and volunteer kitchen workers engaged in preparing and serving food. Assign duties, responsibilities and workstations to guest and volunteer kitchen workers according to work requirements. Observe and evaluate guest and volunteer kitchen workers and work procedures to ensure standards of quality and service are met. Train guest and volunteer kitchen workers in proper food preparation and service procedures. Interact with volunteers and make their time at the Center as enjoyable as possible. Provide brief tours of the facility for interested volunteers. Record production and operations data on specified forms and/or in the computer. Clean and organize supply, equipment and work areas to ensure safe and efficient production and service, in conformance with Department of Health standards. Receive and put away deliveries, in conformance with Department of Health standards. Meet CCFP meal pattern requirements and special dietary needs for each meal. Maintain security of equipment and supplies. Resolve complaints regarding food service. All other duties as assigned by the Director of Food Service or the CFO, CEO or any Senior Mangers including job functions outside the kitchen. Resident, Guest and Internal Customer Focus The Meal Supervisor is sensitive to emotional, spiritual and practical needs of resident, families, guests and staff members in all interactions. Provides positive feedback and comments about the quality of work and effort that have been offered by residents, families and coworkers. Adjusts priorities and schedules to meet specific customer needs. Reports and/or corrects problems related to safety, cleanliness and comfort of resident and work areas. Universal Precautions and Infection Control techniques are followed. Understands own role facility safety plans and procedures related to fire, weather and other disasters is demonstrated.

Qualifications

Food service or shelter management experience. Physically able to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasked environment. Able to work flexible times, as required, supporting the Food and Nutrition Services department and sheltering needs. Able to work in commercial kitchen setting. Able to obtain Florida Food Manager’s Certification or equivalent. Able to accurately record collected data. Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Education and Experience

Able to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with guests, co-workers and volunteers. Valid Florida Driver’s License. If driving a company vehicle on work-related business, must be 21 years of age and will require an acceptable annual Motor Vehicle Record check. Ability to pass a Level II Background Check.
