Beaches Council on Aging, a long-standing nonprofit serving seniors and adults with disabilities in the Jacksonville Beaches community, is seeking a reliable, compassionate, and tech-savvy individual to join our Dial a Ride team in a full-time hybrid role: Scheduler/Driver.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys meaningful work, is highly organized, and thrives in a service-oriented environment. The role combines administrative scheduling responsibilities with hands-on transportation support for our riders.
Essential duties and responsibilities
Key Responsibilities 1. Scheduling & Administrative Support (Primary Responsibility) • Serve as the relief scheduler for our online TripMaster scheduling system several days per week. • Perform accurate data entry, schedule adjustments, and ride coordination. • Utilize strong computer skills to manage rider information, routes, and daily operational needs. • Support office operations with additional administrative tasks as needed. 2. Transportation & Client Assistance • Drive Dial a Ride vehicles 2–3 days per week, providing safe, courteous, door-to-door service for seniors and adults with disabilities. • Assist riders with boarding, exiting, and mobility needs while maintaining dignity and respect. • Operate 8 passenger vans, including securing wheelchairs when required.
Qualifications
Qualifications • Excellent computer skills (scheduling systems, data entry, general office software). • Strong communication skills and/or prior customer service experience. • Ability to multitask and work calmly under pressure. • Spotless driving record for the past 7 years (required). • Ability to pass a Level 2 background check. • Experience driving large vehicles or similar equipment. • Ability to lift 50 lbs and manage physical aspects of assisting riders. • Knowledge of the Jacksonville Beaches area. • Safety-oriented mindset; FDOT experience or familiarity is a plus. • Past nonprofit or transportation experience is helpful but not required. • No CDL required.
Education and Experience
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
Salary/Salary Range
$15 and $18/hr to start
