The Pantry and Food Assistance Manager plays a vital role in advancing UCOM’s commitment to reducing food insecurity and promoting healthy, accessible nutrition for our neighbors.

This three-quarter-time position offers a schedule that aligns well with typical school-day hours, providing both purpose and flexibility.

In this role, you will oversee pantry operations and support a range of food distribution programs, ensuring that every client experiences service that is dignified, efficient, and welcoming. Working closely with receiving and delivery staff, you will lead and support a strong network of volunteers, fostering a collaborative environment that prioritizes respect, quality, and care in every interaction.

Essential duties and responsibilities

What You’ll Do (aka Your Superpowers): -Be the heartbeat of our pantry operations Monday through Friday from 8:30am-1:30pm—designing, organizing, and leading services that are safe, high-quality, and full of choice, all while preserving dignity for every neighbor we serve. -Lead the team to keep our pantry, coolers, and walking freezers smartly stocked by forecasting needs and making sure the right food is available at the right time for every appointment and every program. -Team up with our Volunteer & Training Coordinator to recruit, train, and inspire an incredible crew of volunteers (and make sure they love coming back!). -Help steward our food budget like a pro—maximizing resources so we can serve more people, better. -Turn data into impact—tracking results, telling our story through reporting, and keeping us aligned with funders and partners. -Build meaningful relationships with community partners and stakeholders who share our mission. -Be our eyes and ears on the ground—sharing insights and opportunities with leadership to continuously improve our services. -Roll up your sleeves alongside volunteers—receiving deliveries, stocking shelves, and leading by example. -Support additional programs that expand our reach, including community-based food initiatives and senior nutrition services. -Keep things moving behind the scenes by coordinating receiving and delivery operations so food flows in and out efficiently, safely, and accurately.

Qualifications

Knowledge of local nonprofits and other services for low-income citizens desirable. • Ability to manage crises and empathize with clients. • Commitment to the mission of the organization. • Strong cultural competence; ability to build positive relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders including donors and volunteers for faith-based and grassroots organizations. • Must have valid Driver’s License and clean driving record. • Must be able to work on occasional nights & weekends. • Must be able to work in a fast paced, high-volume environment. • Will be required to work in very low and very high temperature environments including walk-in freezers and outdoors in summer weather. • Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds – the size of a banana box – and be on their feet for up to 3 hours. • This position requires regular, in-person attendance at UCOM Pantries.

Education and Experience

Experience working with volunteers—this can include leading a team as a volunteer or in a staff role. Comfortable using Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.). Familiar with customer or client database systems (such as Salesforce), or willing to learn.

Salary/Salary Range

$30,000 - $35,000
