Reporting to the Teacher of Organization (TO) at the elementary school site, the Literacy Tutoring Dismissal Attendant plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe and secure dismissal of elementary students enrolled in the READ USA Literacy Tutoring Program. The Dismissal Attendant is responsible for following established dismissal protocols and verifying that every student is released only to an approved adult.
This position is a consistent on-site role at a designated elementary school and is vital to protecting the safety of students, staff, and families.

Essential duties and responsibilities

Student Safety & Dismissal • Implement and follow READ USA’s After School Dismissal Policy. • Verify the identity of all adults picking up students by requiring valid photo identification. • Ensure students are only released to adults listed on their signed permission slip. • Maintain a secure and orderly dismissal area. • Refuse dismissal if identity cannot be confirmed or if the adult is not listed as an authorized contact. • Immediately contact the designated READ USA Teacher of Organization, School Principal, or law enforcement if safety concerns arise. Recordkeeping & Communication • Maintain daily dismissal logs and ensure accuracy in recording pick-up information. • Communicate promptly and professionally with parents/guardians, tutors, teachers, school staff, and READ USA staff regarding dismissal procedures or issues. • Report incidents of non-compliance or safety concerns to the site TO. Professionalism • Follow READ USA’s code of conduct and uphold high standards of integrity and reliability. • Cultivate positive interactions with all READ USA staff, school staff, and families. • Support this and other READ USA programs as directed by the site TO, Program Specialist, or CPO.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older. • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with attention to detail. • Ability to implement safety procedures calmly and consistently. • Personal qualities of integrity, reliability, and a strong commitment to student safety and the READ USA mission. • Reliable transportation to travel to and from the assigned school site.

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Salary/Salary Range

$15 per hour
