Each year, Vision Is Priceless provides free vision screenings to more than 35,000 individuals, along with follow-up eye exams, prescription glasses, and specialty vision care for those in need.

The primary responsibility of the Vision Screener is to facilitate and conduct vision screenings for children in schools and community settings. This is a part-time position (25 hours per week) that follows the school calendar, with employment running from August through April.

Vision Is Priceless was founded in 1996 to fulfill the need in our community for vision screenings and provide access to vision care—including eye exams, prescription glasses, and specialty care—for the uninsured and underserved. Our mission is to restore sight, hope, and opportunity by providing vision screening—and delivering eye exams, glasses, and specialty care for underserved adults and children in Northeast Florida.

Essential duties and responsibilities

• Conduct vision screenings for children ages 3-18 at daycares, preschools, private schools, and parochial schools throughout the First Coast area. • Maintain accurate screening records, enter screening results into the database within established timeframes, and communicate screening results to school personnel. • Use database to track upcoming screenings and coordinate with school administrators and community partners to ensure screening day preparedness. • Manage and maintain an inventory of screening and educational materials. • Ensure screening equipment remains in good working condition and promptly report maintenance or repair needs to the Program Director. • Represent Vision Is Priceless professionally while building positive relationships with school personnel, community partners, and families.

Qualifications

• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills • Good organizational skills and the ability to concentrate and show attention to detail • Ability to demonstrate good judgment, work independently and as a team member • Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple tasks • 18 years or older • Available to work weekday mornings and has reliable transportation with active insurance for work related travel (mileage reimbursement). • Passing a level 2 background check

Education and Experience

• Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook • Knowledge of the Northeast Florida area is helpful

Salary/Salary Range

$15 an hour
