Riverside Avondale Preservation (RAP) is seeking an Assistant Market Manager to manage volunteers, merchandising, and vendor compliance for Riverside Arts Market (RAM).

Key Responsibilities:

Coordinate with Market Director to understand volunteer staffing needs of RAM
Create and implement a strong volunteer network to support market functions
Develop recruitment strategies and volunteer training techniques, as well as volunteer assignments for various needs within RAM
Assist in the check-in and check-out of all market vendors and merchants at RAM.
Assist with additional RAM programs, such as lunchtime food truck events or off-site markets.

Essential duties and responsibilities

Volunteer Coordination: - Coordinate with Market Director to understand volunteer staffing needs of RAM - Create and implement a strong volunteer network to support market functions - Develop recruitment strategies and volunteer training techniques, as well as volunteer assignments for various needs within RAM - Supervise volunteer staff of the RAM Information Booth each Saturday from 10am - 3pm which will include merchandise display and sales, SNAP transactions, answering basic questions about the Riverside and Avondale neighborhoods, and serving as a homebase for all RAM essential staff including JSO and JFRD. The Assistant Manager will staff the RAM Information Booth in the event no volunteers are in attendance. - Develop opportunities for specialized volunteers, such as the Teen Leaders program, corporate volunteers, or those with specialized expertise - Document and track volunteer hours served, with monthly reporting to Market Director Market Operations: - Assist in the check-in and check-out of all market vendors and merchants. Aid with any conflicts, emergencies or day-of modifications. - Assist with additional market programs, such as lunchtime food truck events or off-site markets. - Serve as an essential part of RAM through weekly planning/coordination meetings - Lift, carry, and set up spaces within the market to create special places that invite people to stay at RAM - Ensure and enforce compliance with market policies and guidelines among staff, vendors, and market visitors. Monitor product compliance within vendor booths. - Purchase and oversee merchandise orders; working within an annual budget and maintaining an accurate merchandise inventory. - Help source new merchandise focusing on local vendors, artists, and sourcing Riverside Avondale Preservation: - Coordinate with Staff, Board Members, and Committee Members to support community events such as neighborhood cleanups, programs such as the Community Garden, and signature annual events like Home Tour, Garden Tour, Music Tour, and Luminaria

Qualifications

- Previous experience working with volunteers required - Previous experience with event planning, event operations, or retail merchandising preferred - Ability to work outdoors in all weather, lift objects over 20 lbs., and follow safety precautions required - Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated interest in working with young adults - Customer service skills necessary - Bilingual candidates preferred - Knowledge of the Riverside Avondale neighborhood and interest in supporting the local community

Salary/Salary Range

Salary: $45,000-$50,000 per year with annual review; Benefits: Flexible schedule, employer-operated Health Reimbursement Account, Simple IRA with a 3% employer match, employer-provided laptop
