The World Affairs Council of Jacksonville is a non-partisan, non-profit organization whose mission is to promote an understanding of the world and its people and to engage citizens of Northeast Florida in becoming better informed participants in the global community. For this senior staff position, the World Affairs Council of Jacksonville seeks a dynamic, mission-driven professional with experience in strategic project management, organizational development, and information technology. This is a full-time, exempt, salaried position reporting directly to the President & CEO.
Essential duties and responsibilities
- Lead organizational strategy alongside the President & CEO, contributing to long-term planning, goal setting, and strategic initiatives across all departments. - Assist fundraising efforts, including donor cultivation, grant writing, and reporting, while managing a $1 million annual budget in partnership with the President & CEO. - Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, ensuring seamless communication, decision-making, and execution of key initiatives. - Oversee program execution for 20+ annual events and programs, including flagship speaker series, special engagements, and high-profile community events, collaborating with program support staff. - Manage and mentor a high-performing team, including two full-time employees, through coaching, professional development, and annual performance reviews. - Direct staff recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance management, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and culture. - Oversee communications strategies across digital and print, including the website (WordPress), email marketing (Mailchimp), social media (LinkedIn, Twitter/X, Instagram, Facebook), and advertising partnerships. - Oversee reporting on program and organizational performance metrics; utilizing surveys to evaluate effectiveness and inform continuous improvement. - Coordinate board operations, managing board communications, agendas, and supporting governance functions to ensure compliance with charters and policies. - Maintain and oversee organizational data systems (Membee, Salesforce, Office 365) and serve as the liaison for IT needs. - Serve as a primary ambassador for the organization, building relationships with community partners, schools, and other key stakeholders. - Support organizational change management, helping the Council adapt to evolving community needs and global events. - Drive cross-departmental collaboration, ensuring the alignment of organizational priorities and initiatives. - Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Strong strategic thinking and organizational development skills, with experience leading through change. - Proven experience in nonprofit fundraising, donor cultivation, grant writing, and reporting. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders. - Experience with program evaluation, data analysis, and impact measurement tools. - Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, CRM/database systems (e.g., Membee, Salesforce), and WordPress; Canva experience a plus. - Skilled in managing multi-channel communications campaigns (email, social media, print). - Strong project management skills, with the ability to balance priorities and meet deadlines. - Availability to work evenings as needed.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., nonprofit management, communications, international studies, political science, business administration). - 4-6 years of professional experience, including 2+ years in staff supervision or team leadership.
Salary/Salary Range
$70-80,000
