The Education Advisor supports and guides students throughout their academic journey at Literacy Alliance of Northeast Florida. This role is central to student success, helping ensure each learner has a positive, personalized, and productive educational experience.
Education Advisors provide high-quality, student-centered advising and maintain a strong understanding of the policies and procedures that shape the student lifecycle, including intake, registration, enrollment, instructional hours and graduation. They also ensure students are connected to the right support services, which may include academic resources, referrals, workforce development opportunities, and digital literacy programs.
As a primary point of contact, the Education Advisor helps students navigate their academic plans, overcome barriers, and stay on track to reach their goals. They work closely with instructors, program staff, and support teams to provide a coordinated and holistic student experience.
Essential duties and responsibilities
Direct Student Support: -Coach students through the intake, registration, assessment, class selection and scheduling processes, ensuring alignment with program requirements and individual goals -Monitor student progress and proactively reach out when students are at risk of academic difficulty or disengagement -Refer students to appropriate internal programs and community resources to support their academic and personal success -Ability to identify barriers to program completion and offer solutions -Facilitate small group instruction or workshops as needed to support academic readiness, digital literacy or career-related skills -Capacity to listen and observe to understand the needs of individual students -Skilled in using spoken communication to build rapport with and influence students -Demonstrates a passion to help students succeed Caseload & Data Management: -Provide academic advising to students individually or in small groups across all stages of the educational journey, from intake through graduation -Maintain a student caseload across all communication platforms, including in-person meetings, phone calls, text messages and virtual sessions -Develop individualized support plans using assessment results, student data and ongoing progress monitoring -Maintain documentation and database monitoring of student interactions and advising notes -Assist in preparing monthly program updates and contribute relevant data metrics for internal reports and continuous improvement -Organize and maintain student digital files in alignment with program standards Program Support: -Participate in student orientation sessions and other student engagement activities -Contribute to the development of advising tools, materials and processes that enhance the overall student experience -Stay current on best practices in academic advising, student support services and case management -Maintain up-to-date knowledge of program offerings and institutional policies -Collaborate with internal teams to ensure students have access to academic tutoring, digital literacy support, and workforce readiness offerings -Assist in the development and distribution of marketing and outreach materials that highlight program offerings -Provide backup support to intake and assessment teammates -Represent Literacy Alliance at outreach and recruitment events throughout the year to engage prospective students and community partners -Perform other duties as assigned to support overall program success
Qualifications
We're seeking someone who is energized by building relationships and engaging with students, yet equally comfortable working independently to analyze information and dive into data details. Must possess strong emotional intelligence, critical thinking skills, and the ability to navigate challenging or sensitive student situations with empathy, professionalism, and sound judgment. Candidates must also be able to communicate clearly and effectively in both oral and written form, and work collaboratively across departments while managing tasks independently. -Experience, education or interest in adult education, literacy, GED, high-school equivalency or similar instruction -Background working with diverse populations, including nontraditional students, English language learners or individuals facing barriers to education -Familiarity with student case management, coaching models or wraparound services -Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, student-centered environment -Quality verbal and written communications skills -Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities while maintaining attention to detail -Competency with and interest in Google Workspace and Google Classroom tools -Drivers license and reliable transportation for occasional off-site meetings or events
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree or an Associate’s Degree with two-year combination of education, training, and professional experience in student advising, case management or educational support for learners 16 and above.

$24/Hour
