The Human Resources Assistant is responsible for assisting the Chief Resource Officer in ensuring that all programs within the Nassau County Council on Aging, Inc. are meeting the mandated local, state, and federal guidelines for operating a 501(c)(3) organization.
The Human Resources Assistant is responsible for assisting the Chief Resource Officer to ensure that all employees of the Nassau County Council on Aging, Inc. receive all mandated background checks and drug screenings prior to employment. This position will also help ensure that each employee has been given new hire training and a completed personnel file constructed and maintained throughout the duration of employment.
Essential duties and responsibilities
The Human Resources Assistant will help the Chief Resorce Officer to perform the administration of the day-to-day operations of the human resources department. The training and development of staff including New Hire Orientation. Ensure that all staff are current with mandated trainings and development classes. Maintain the benefits and compensation scales and ensure that all employees are abreast of the benefits options available to them. Maintain employment records for all employees. Facilitate company-wide policies and procedures as directed by the NCCOA Board of Directors as detailed in the Employee Handbook. Initiate appropriate employee services to ensure the safety, welfare, wellness and health of the NCCOA employees. Maintain employee information in a confidential manner.
Qualifications
The Human Resources Assistant should have but, not required, a working knowledge of the community care system for seniors. Excellent verbal communication skills. Excellent writing skills. Microsoft office skills (word, excel, power point, etc.). Professionalism Stay abreast of Human Resource policies and non-profit standards.
Education and Experience
WORK EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS Two (2) years Human Resource experience preferred. Must be able to pass the Level 2 background check required by DOEA. Must adhere to Drug Free Workplace standards. EDUCATION: High School education required. Some college preferred. PHYSICAL WORK REQUIREMENTS: Able to sit and work at a computer keyboard for extended periods of time. Able to stoop, kneel, bend at the waist and reach on a daily basis. Able to perform general office administrative activities: copying filing delivering and using the telephone. Able to lift 30 pounds.
Salary/Salary Range
$17.00 to $18.00 per hour
