JOB SUMMARY:
The Marketing and Communications Director is responsible for planning, designing, managing and directing all marketing and communications for Nassau County Council on Aging. This includes Internal and external communications such as media relations and press releases; digital media, including websites, social and video; print publications; and special events.
Essential duties and responsibilities
Develops and executes strategies for internal and external communications. Plans and executes marketing, communications and publicity/advertising campaigns for NCCOA. Develops strategies for promotional and educational opportunities. Develops positive relationship with media to promote favorable impact news stories and features concerning NCCOA. Assists the President & CEO with public speaking engagements. Updates Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and other social media outlets to continually update the public on the activities occurring at NCCOA. Coordinates related marketing materials for NCCOA-related sponsorships. Creates content and oversees the production of print publications, including the annual report, newsletters, brochures, invitations, flyers, posters and other collateral. Initiates, develops and maintains media contacts for disseminating information. Works with the President & CEO and assigned Board of Directors member to create and execute an annual strategic Marketing and Communications plan. Assists with Development/Fundraising, Strategic Planning and Digital Marketing. With guidance from the President & CEO, presents Marketing and Communications plan/strategies to the Board of Directors. Maintains administrative rights to NCCOA website and other digital media (including Constant Contact and DonorPerfect), and ensures content is current. Strategizes, plans, executes and directs special events including the following: annual meeting, annual fundraising gala, Shrimp Festival participation and other events that target the Nassau County community. Special event planning should ensure that the following is completed: pre-event publicity, site coordination, pre-event set up, facilitation of event, post-event news articles and other organizational details. Solicits sponsorships, auction items and publicity for NCCOA events and activities that require donations. Supports publication of Senior Life magazine. Initiates and executes potential NCCOA award nominations. Consults with NCCOA departments on marketing- and communications-related collateral, programs and events, and provides necessary support for departments’ marketing and communications needs. Supports President & CEO and Leadership Team members in all marketing and communications-related efforts. Serves on the Board of Directors Marketing Committee.
Qualifications
The Marketing and Communications Director’s role is to promote the activities of NCCOA within the community. Therefore, the Marketing and Communications Director must be knowledgeable about the array of media outlets and community events that can be utilized as a catalyst for public relations and media placements. This position should have a working knowledge of print, digital (social and video) and community media outlets, and be able to access them to promote NCCOA. Must have knowledge of challenges and opportunities facing the senior population. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Microsoft Office skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.). Microsoft Publisher or equivalent software knowledge. Professionalism in all aspects of the position.
Education and Experience
WORK EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS: Five (5) years Marketing and Communications experience preferred, including Executive Management. Experience working with the elderly or other vulnerable population in a customer-focused environment. Must be able to pass the Level 2 background check required by DOEA. Must adhere to Drug Free Workplace standards. Must have use of personal vehicle for job-related purposes. Must have a valid driver’s license. EDUCATION: BS or BA degree preferable in Mass Communications or Journalism with at least 4 years’ experience.
Salary/Salary Range
$65,000 to $68,000 per year
