Job Summary:

The Weekend Coordinator is responsible for the orderly and safe operation of Gabriel House of Care during the weekend hours, when the regular staff is not on-site. This requires a thorough working knowledge of the facility, as well as program and security procedures. The Weekend Coordinator must be able to respond to unusual and emergency situations in a calm, professional, and effective manner. He or she must also be able to effectively communicate nighttime activity to the regular staff in a timely manner.

The Weekend Coordinator will work closely with guests (patients and caregivers), the Guest Services Manager, hospital staff, volunteers, and the Volunteer Coordinator.

Essential duties and responsibilities

1. Oversee the proper functioning of Gabriel House during Friday night from 4:00PM to Saturday 9:00AM or weekends (9:00am Saturday to 9:00pm Sunday), either on an actively working or standby basis. 2. Assist guests with check-in or checkout processing. Be available to answer questions and provide house-related assistance to guests as needed. 3. Monitor the house and ensure that admission and security policies and procedures are properly followed. Must be knowledgeable of emergency procedures and respond effectively and compassionately to any emergency situation which may occur. 4. Prepare a report of weekend activities for the Guest Services Manager, including information on any unusual guest behavior or operational/maintenance problems that may have occurred, and the response status. 5. Perform other related duties as may be assigned by the Guest Services Manager or Executive Director or as may be required to meet emergency situations. Qualifications

1. Ability to meet and communicate with people easily and relate to them in an open, compassionate manner. 2. Interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with people of diverse backgrounds. 3. In overseeing a Hospitality House with as many as 60+ people in a community atmosphere, the Weekend Supervisor will have varied and multiple responsibilities. He or she must remain flexible when dealing with guests and applying policies and procedures 4. Must possess common sense and the ability to perceive and solve problems before they become crises. Must demonstrate the ability to relate and cope with people in periods of stress and turmoil. 5. . Must be well organized and able to delegate responsibility to volunteers as appropriate. Must also keep objective and well organized records of nighttime activity. 6. Must have the ability to work independently, organize and prioritize duties, and communicate with guests, staff, and volunteers. 7. Must have a basic familiarity with Microsoft Office and Exceed Premier software to prepare correspondence, develop reports, and enter guest data.

Education and Experience

High School diploma required with some post-secondary schooling desirable, or 5 years related work experience
