Description

The Director of Development and Community reports to the CEO and is responsible for organizing special events fundraisers, activities and events that bring awareness of the organization and its mission to the community, utilizing multiple streams of communication to engage prospective partners, volunteers, constituents, and donors.

Essential duties and responsibilities

Strategic Leadership • Works closely with the CEO and management team to develop community engagement strategies and plans for the organization. • Prepare compelling proposals and presentations to solicit gifts • Develop a year-round communication plan to steward existing portfolio of donors • Develop and execute fundraising strategy aligned with BASCA’s goals. • Identify and cultivate pipeline of prospects capable of making major donations. • Write grants as needed; creates R&D reports. Event Planning & Management • Plan, organize, and execute all BASCA special events, including the annual 5K Run, Golf Tournament, appreciation celebrations, and third-party fundraisers. • Manage all event logistics including venue coordination, vendor relations, catering, equipment rentals, signage, setup, and teardown. • Develop event timelines, budgets, and post-event evaluations to measure success. • Collaborate with staff and leadership to align events with BASCA’s mission and fundraising goals. Marketing, Design & Communications • Create all event collateral, including invitations, flyers, signage, sponsor packets, and digital graphics. • Manage advertising and marketing efforts across print, web, and social media platforms. • Update and maintain relevant event content on the BASCA website. • Design and manage online forms for event registration, sponsorships, and donations. • Develop and send mass email campaigns to promote events and engage supporters. Sponsorships, Fundraising & Donor Relations • Identify, cultivate, and secure sponsors, donors, and community partners. • Prepare sponsorship proposals, grant-style funding requests, and solicitation materials. • Solicit and manage in-kind donations, silent auction items, and raffles. • Maintain strong relationships with existing sponsors to encourage continued support. • Ensure timely donor recognition, follow-up, and ongoing communication. • Write and distribute press releases, speaking notes, event scripts, and post-event thank-you messages. Committee, Volunteer & Community Engagement • Act as the Chair for the Development Committee of the Board of Directors. • Prepares and presents reports at Board Meetings. • Develop and manage planning committees, ensuring effective communication and task follow-through. • Recruit, train, and supervise event volunteers; provide guidance, direction, and appreciation before, during, and after events. • Represent BASCA at community functions, ribbon cuttings, and speaking engagements to raise awareness and strengthen partnerships. • Coordinate with other community organizations regarding event participation and cross-promotion opportunities. Administration & Reporting • Maintain organized records of sponsors, donors, attendees, and event metrics. • Track expenses, invoices, and income to ensure events remain within budget. • Produce post-event reports summarizing outcomes, financials, and key learnings. • Order and manage event supplies, signage, and materials. Additional Responsibilities • Available to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed. • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• A dynamic fundraiser with strong business acumen and a passion for building mission-aligned partnerships. • Comprehensive understanding of fundraising principles and practices. • Customer Service – able to personally provide high level of interactive service to targeted customer base/market, building relationships and acting as external organization advocate. • Team Orientation & Interpersonal – must be a highly motivated, passionate, and creative team-player with ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with all levels within and external to the organization. • Communication – able to effectively and persuasively express self verbally and in writing, using correct language and grammar in a professional, diplomatic and tactful manner. • Organization & Time Management – able to work independently with minimal supervision while planning, scheduling and organizing professional schedule to complete actions within established deadlines; able to handling multiple priorities with strong attention to detail.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications or related field from an accredited college or university; advanced degree or CFRE preferred • Minimum 6 years of experience in non-profit fundraising event planning, and marketing, with a demonstrated ability to secure major and multi-year gifts. • Experience in proposal development & campaign execution • Experience working with executives, boards, and high-level funders • Excellent interpersonal, written, and presentation skills. • Proficiency Microsoft Office, Canva (or something similar) Donorsnap or a related CRM database, and online event platforms. • Meets state requirements for Background Screening.

Salary/Salary Range

$43,000- $45,000
