On April 17, the Nonprofit Center hosted our fifth weekly COVID-19 resource call. This call included important advocacy updates from Sabeen Perwaiz of the Florida Nonprofit Alliance. Key leaders from the philanthropic community including Amanda Crawford of VyStar Credit Union, Michael Murray of Arthur Vining Davis Foundation, and Kathleen Shaw from the Community Foundation for Northeast Florida also joined the call. View the slides here.
The funders who were on the call shared the actions they are committed to as our community begins to assess the damages caused by COVID-19. The Nonprofit Center supports the efforts of funders to ease grant-making restrictions during this difficult time. The Council on Foundations has developed a pledge with suggested actions for philanthropic leaders. The pledge and the more than 700 leaders who have signed it can be found here.
Action Update: Thank you to those who signed on to the FNA letter!
Florida Nonprofit Alliance shared this letter with our congressional representatives on Monday morning. Dozens of organizations across the state participated, including more than 20 organizations in Northeast Florida. Florida Nonprofit Alliance has also published a report on the impact of COVID-19 on Florida’s nonprofits. The report is available here.
