Description
Riverside Avondale Preservation (RAP) is seeking a Communications Director to lead strategic communications, branding, and marketing efforts for both RAP and the Riverside Arts Market (RAM). The Communications Director will oversee media relations, digital communications, event marketing, and promotional campaigns to engage the community and amplify RAP’s mission.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and execute a comprehensive communication strategy
Manage social media, newsletters, and web content
Cultivate media relationships and generate press coverage
Lead marketing efforts for RAP’s signature events (RAM, Music Tour, Luminaria, Home Tour, etc.)
Supervise the Digital Media Coordinator (part-time)
Essential duties and responsibilities
Strategic Communications and Brand Management ● Develop and execute comprehensive communication strategy and plan aligned with RAP and RAM objectives. Identify key audiences and tailor messaging across diverse channels including social media, marketing, and print ● Cultivate and maintain media contacts; draft and distribute press releases, media alerts, articles, and editorials to ensure regular coverage of RAP’s initiatives and events ● Plan and execute digital communication via newsletters, web content, and social media ● Craft compelling messaging and narratives that accurately represent the organization's brand, values, and position on key issues. Keep the membership, volunteers, and community informed of important issues, and provide the public with the opportunity to dialogue and receive input and feedback ● Create and manage narratives for each of our programs and projects that may aid with grant proposals, development strategies, and member communications ● Create plans for effective use of signage and posters to enhance messaging Event Marketing & Promotion ● Lead marketing efforts for our signature events which include RAM, Annual Meeting & Preservation Awards, Home Tour, Yarden Tour, Music Tour, Luminaria, historic homeowner workshops and neighborhood cleanups ● Oversee the creation of promotional materials, including posters, merchandise, and digital graphics ● Plan pre-, during-, and post-event strategies to maximize attendance and engagement Administration and Operations ● The Communications Director is the direct supervisor of the Digital Media Coordinator (part-time). This includes the creation of annual workplans, deliverables, and strategic use of hours ● Recruit, hire and manage Digital Media Coordinator ● Track the effectiveness of communication campaigns using analytics to measure key metrics like media coverage, social media engagement, and brand awareness ● Create the annual budget for advertising, printing, website & technology, etc. ● Coordinate all print and digital advertising
Education and Experience
SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS ● Bachelors in Communications, Journalism, English, Marketing or equivalent field ● Five to seven years’ experience in a professional writing or communications role ● Exceptional writing and editing skills for diverse mediums, including digital content, press materials, and promotional messaging ● Strong understanding of social media strategy and analytics ● Experience with event marketing and planning ● Proficiency in graphic design tools and techniques ● Passion for and understanding of the value of historic urban core neighborhoods ● *Event marketing and planning experience is a plus ● *Preferred candidates will live in Riverside, Avondale, or urban core neighborhoods
Salary/Salary Range
$65-$70k/yr, HRA, IRA
