Essential duties and responsibilities

Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions: • Create compelling print and electronic materials to attract new and retain existing partners and donors, ensuring consistency with our local branding. • Assist in the ongoing creative maintenance of the organization’s digital engagement strategy. • Ensure all projects are created and delivered on time and that all artwork is consistent and updated. • Design, build and execute campaign-themed or initiative-focused materials. • Keep up-to-date with current technologies including web browser standards. • Contribute to a creative environment that is conducive to efficient, consistent design. • Keep abreast of emerging technologies in new media, particularly design programs such as InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Acrobat, and video programs such as After Effects, Premier and Animate. • Support the development of digital and print media, marketing collateral, advertisements, presentations and promotional pieces as assigned. • Participate in the creative process to develop ideas for marketing and other departments. • Assist with website and blog updates via WordPress. • Provide planning and logistical support for special events. • Participate in all-staff and team meetings. • Perform other such duties as may be assigned by the supervisory team. • College credit may be available.

Education and Experience

Experience/Qualifications: • Applicant should possess a motivation to help people, a non-judgmental attitude, excellent interpersonal skills, and an ability to empathize. • Intern must be a college student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in graphic design or related field. • Proficiency in oral and written communication skills. • Demonstrated ability to take direction from multiple team members • Strong time management, organization, oral communication and interpersonal skills. • AP style knowledge. • Proficient in Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator. • Self-starter who is dependable and able to work independently. • Demonstrated capability to prioritize work appropriately and handle multiple tasks at one time. • Team player with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. • Ability to work a flexible schedule given special events or other meetings. • Entry-level website content management skills. • Photography and photo-editing skills. • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs. • Social media management skills are a plus but not required. • Videography and audio-capturing skills a plus, but not required. • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of computer equipment, phones, various software programs and resource file. • Ability to work effectively under stress and maintain productivity and composure under pressure. • Ability to use good judgment and assessment techniques. • Ability to work with minimal supervision. • Ability to pass a background check. • Must pass pre-employment drug screening. • Interns who drive a vehicle on United Way of Northeast Florida business must provide proof of a valid driver’s license, proof of current automobile insurance and must pass a Motor Vehicle Records check. • Keep all activities in line with the core values and contribute to the positive culture of United Way of Northeast Florida. • Actively participate in the broader organizational activities and be a brand steward within the community, outside agencies and/or programs to enhance United Way services to the community. Work Environment: • As a matter of policy, interns may only work in our office, not remote. This may mean the internship is for three days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday). • Vibrant work space in The Jessie in downtown Jacksonville, a nonprofit and community gathering space in a sustainable, state-of-the-art facility with free monthly parking • Purpose – Help United Way transform NEFL into a community of opportunity and hope for ALL people • A fun, challenging culture.
