Description
The Major Gifts Officer (MGO) is responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major gift donors to support the mission and strategic goals of Goodwill Industries of North Florida. The MGO manages a portfolio of current and prospective donors capable of giving $5,000 or more annually, building long-term philanthropic relationships to maximize giving. This role ensures accurate donor data management and reporting. The ideal candidate is a relationship builder, strategic thinker, and results-oriented professional with a passion for philanthropy and the GINFL’s Mission.
Essential duties and responsibilities
Portfolio Management: ● Research and manage a portfolio of major gift prospects. ● Develop and implement customized cultivation and solicitation strategies for each prospect. ● Conduct donor visits (virtual and in-person) and meaningful touchpoints monthly. Fundraising & Solicitation: ● Meet or exceed annual fundraising goals through major gifts, planned gifts, and multi-year commitments. ● Prepare compelling proposals, presentations, and donor communications tailored to individual interests and the priorities of Goodwill. ● Collaborate with leadership to involve foundation board members, staff, and volunteers in donor engagement efforts. Donor Stewardship: ● In partnership with the development coordinator, ensure timely acknowledgment, recognition, and reporting for major donors. ● Coordinate special stewardship experiences, such as site visits, events, or impact reports. ● Maintain donor records and interactions in the CRM system, Salesforce Strategy & Collaboration: ● Support the creation and implementation of the organization’s major gifts strategy. ● Partner with the Chief Fund Development Officer to align donor interests with organizational priorities. ● Assist in planning donor cultivation events and campaigns.
Qualifications
● Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. ● Self-motivated, strategic thinker with strong organizational skills and attention to detail. ● Strong data management skills with proficiency in Salesforce (or similar CRM) for tracking and reporting. ● Passion for the mission of Goodwill Industries of North Florida and ability to articulate its impact. Preferred Qualifications: ● Salesforce or similar CRM experience ● CFRE Certification
Education and Experience
Minimum of 5 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, sales, business development, with a focus on cultivating relationships. Experience using donor database systems and fundraising analytics. Proven ability to build relationships and close gifts of $5,000+.
Salary/Salary Range
80,000-90,000
