Description
Downtown Ecumenical Services Council (DESC) seeks to proclaim the love of Jesus Christ by meeting the needs of people in emergency situations or experiencing poverty.
DESC is looking for an EFA Specialist to provide assistance to families seeking emergency financial assistance. This role requires patience, excellent customer service skills and the ability to multitask and stay organized. This is a part time position of 30 hrs/week.
Essential duties and responsibilities
• Carry a caseload of 10-15 cases per week • Follow up on all EFA referrals to assess eligibility for financial assistance according to program criteria. • Interview clients to obtain information and documentation for assessment and determination of client eligibility. • Contact landlord or utility company to validate claims, clarify data and confirm payment requirements. • Conduct follow-up to ensure case completion, future evaluation, assess outcomes and more as needed. • Seek understanding of client financial challenges and potential roadblocks to success. • Provide appropriate information and referral services to clients as needed. • Record and manage necessary documents for each client's file as well as input data into client database and tracking systems. • Respond to inquiries, phone calls and email in a timely and responsive manner.
Qualifications
• Ability to maintain files and update databases and tracking systems for every client • Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) and Google Docs • Excellent customer service skills • Ability to prioritize work • Effective organizational skills • Effective communication skills • Effective interpersonal skills • Effective mediation skills • Effective problem-solving skills • Excellent follow-through skills and results-oriented
Education and Experience
• High school diploma or equivalent • Minimum of 1 year social services experience
Salary/Salary Range
$20/hr
