Description

We are looking for a committed, highly organized individual who is excited to join a hard-working mission-driven Development Team. As the Communications Specialist, you will participate in the strategic planning and implementation of all communications efforts to help support Communities In Schools of Jacksonville. The development office’s focus is to share the CIS story and support CISJax fundraising. As the Communications Specialist, you will be assisting in the creation and upkeep of marketing materials, internal and external e-newsletters, database management, social media content, digital advertising, and communication with donors and the public.

Essential duties and responsibilities

Communications and Development -Write draft communication, edit and process outgoing correspondence, for both internal and external audiences. -Oversee social media content calendar and ad campaigns. -Assist in Digital Media Campaigns -Assist PR contractors with coordination of media opportunities. -Create and revise development-related materials, i.e. program one-pagers, statistics, electronic brochures, and annual reports. -Coordinate strategic communication efforts for annual fundraising events. -Assist in donor cultivation communication efforts. -Design and prepare various event related marketing materials, to include brochures and flyers. -Develop and maintain positive relations with all staff, departments, agency representatives, donors and volunteers. -Assist with taking internal meeting notes when requested. -Assist with tasks assigned by Chief Development Officer. -Perform related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

-Knowledge of various social media channels including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. -Knowledge of SEO and Digital Media Advertising. -Previous experience with donor database. -Able to maintain confidentiality. -Proficiency in Microsoft Office and online researching. -Proficiency in design platforms, such as Canva, a plus. -Time management skills are needed to meet deadlines. -Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills, leadership skills, organization skills, and interpersonal skills.

Education and Experience

-Bachelor’s Degree preferred, or combination of education and experience. -Previous non-profit fund development experience a plus -Previous communications experience a plus -Able to lift at least 25 lbs. -Valid driver’s license, ability to pass level two background screening and dependable transportation required.
