OneJax seeks a Director of Communications & Development to elevate the organization’s brand recognition and visibility, strengthen donor relationships, and enhance fundraising efforts. This position leads OneJax’s fundraising, external communications, and marketing initiatives and reports directly to the CEO. This position is responsible for co-creating and implementing a comprehensive strategy to strengthen donor relationships, drive fundraising efforts, and enhance community engagement through impactful messaging. Experience in nonprofit communications, donor stewardship, and engagement with community thought leaders is ideal. This role is best suited for a strategic communicator with a passion for storytelling, relationship-building, and advancing social impact.

Essential duties and responsibilities
Communications & Marketing: -Develop and execute a communications strategy that aligns with OneJax’s mission and values. -Create compelling content for newsletters, social media, website updates, and press releases to engage donors, community members, and stakeholders. -Oversee OneJax’s digital presence, including social media platforms and email marketing campaigns. -Oversee the design and production of marketing materials, including event collateral, annual reports, and donor recognition pieces. -Coordinate media relations, public relations efforts, and community outreach. Donor Development & Fundraising: -Manage stewardship plan for cultivating relationships with donors, sponsors, and corporate partners to strengthen engagement and increase philanthropic support. -Assist in the development and execution of fundraising campaigns, appeals, and donor appreciation initiatives. -Maintain and manage the donor database, track engagement, and generate reports to inform fundraising strategy. -Research and identify prospective donors and grant opportunities to support organizational growth. -Collaborate with leadership on donor stewardship strategies, including personalized outreach and impact reporting. Event & Community Engagement: -Support the planning and execution of OneJax’s signature events, including the Humanitarian Awards, Breaking Bread & Barriers supper series, and Sandy Miller OneYouth programs. -Represent OneJax at community gatherings, donor meetings, and networking events to build relationships and expand the organization’s reach. -Develop storytelling opportunities to connect donors and the community to the impact of OneJax’s programs.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications: -Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills with the ability to create engaging, mission-driven content. -Experience in social media management and digital marketing strategies. -Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills. -Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively as part of a small nonprofit team. -Passion for community building across diverse populations and perspectives. Preferred Qualifications: -Experience with donor management systems (e.g., NeonOne, Bloomerang, Raiser’s Edge or similar CRM platforms). -Experience in grant writing and proposal development. -Knowledge of fundraising best practices and donor stewardship strategies. -Graphic design skills and familiarity with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar tools.
Education and Experience
-Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Nonprofit Management, or a related field preferred. -3+ years of experience in nonprofit communications, fundraising, donor relations, or a similar role.
Salary/Salary Range
$55,000-$65,000 base salary, health benefits, flexible leave, and bonus opportunities
