Description
The Facility Manager will report to the Director of Aquaponics.
Aquaponics combines the benefits of aquaculture–raising fish in tanks–with hydroponics–cultivating plants in water–to create a cyclical system that both grows food and feeds an aquatic ecosystem, while providing local communities with a consistent supply of fresh produce.
Essential duties and responsibilities
• Oversee day to day operations at greenhouse facility including, but not limited to crop production, processing & packaging, sales & distribution, and general maintenance. • Develop new ideas for curriculum and propose new event ideas and concepts. • Assist in education related events including Food Expos, school tours, field trips, and tours of the farm. • Help plan community events and create educational material and media. • Help run internship programs and oversee intern and volunteers. • Assist in other farm responsibilities when needed.
Qualifications
• Experience working in a teaching environment with multiple age groups and learning abilities. • Ability to use excel, power point, word, and google document programs. • Ability to work in both a group setting and independently.
Education and Experience
• A bachelor’s degree in education or in a relevant field, equivalent experience working in the field, or a combination of both.
