Module 1: Understanding & Investing into Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

This session was recorded on 4.5.22.

Ensuring that an organization’s practices and identity are informed by, and reflective of, the diverse communities we serve is fundamental in creating a stronger and more impactful nonprofit sector. In this session we will review the core principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) that every nonprofit should be aware of and discuss tangible actions for starting, and continuing, this important work. Participants will also get the opportunity to hear from other local Clay nonprofit organizations about their unique experiences, challenges, and successes in moving their organizations towards greater inclusivity.

Presented by Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Expert Tammy L. Hodo Ph.D., of All Things Diverse, LLC.

Module 1: Resilience 101

This session was recorded on 4.20.21.

The impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic have been profound for nonprofit organizations and the economy as a whole. What are the key threats that nonprofits need to pay attention to during this critical time? “Risk management” is the process of identifying risks before threats overtake us or opportunities pass us by. In this session, participants will gain a common vocabulary and understanding of risk management and process improvement, so they can minimize costly, time consuming surprises that undermine their mission. Learn about the risk inventory, which gives visibility into uncertain events that can affect your organization, discover how to prioritize risks so you can actively mitigate the highest value threats and develop opportunities and new initiatives, and find out how to institutionalize a robust risk management process.

Presented by Linda Lenrow Lopez, Director of Operations for Risk Alternatives.

Module 2: Resilience in Action

This session was recorded on 5.25.21.

In this session, we expand on Resilience 101 using a fictitious nonprofit showing how each of the tools is used through the entire risk management cycle. Participants learn by doing, thinking through an effective strategy for addressing a common risk scenario.

Presented by Linda Lenrow Lopez, Director of Operations for Risk Alternatives.

Module 3: Volunteer Risks and What You Must Do About Them

This session was recorded on 6.29.21.

While for-profit organizations would never rely on volunteers to perform essential business services, nonprofits accept these risks every day. That choice creates numerous training, supervision, and motivational challenges. In this workshop, participants collaboratively identify the threats and leave with an arsenal of actionable ideas to protect and enhance their nonprofits’ volunteer operations and maximize volunteer efforts.

Presented by Ted Bilich, Founder and CEO, Risk Alternatives

Module 4: Business Continuity Planning Plus Issues for Consideration in Light of COVID-19

This session was recorded on 7.21.21.

In this session, participants work through a template for emergency business continuity and leave with an addendum focusing on the 14 most important questions you need to answer right now to better address the impact of COVID-19 and its aftermath on your nonprofit.

Presented by: Linda Lenrow Lopez, Risk Alternatives

Module 5: Using Logic Models for Program Success

This session was recorded on 7.27.21.

Logic models are a tool used by program leaders, funders, and managers to design, implement, and evaluate the success of a program or project. Logic models help build agreement and buy-in during the planning stage of a program, organize implementation strategy, and track outcomes in a manageable, clear blueprint. This hands-on workshop will walk participants through every aspect of using a logic model with time to build your own. After the program, participants will have the opportunity to schedule one-on-one appointments with the facilitator to review their logic model and get feedback.

Presented by: Deirdre Conner, Nonprofit Center of Northeast Florida

Module 6: Surveying and Feedback

This session was recorded on 9.21.21.

Data obviously provides the basis of your metrics, but numbers without any kind of organization will impede success. In this session, we will help you determine the best methods for feedback collection through surveys and other tools and how to go about using that data to help you to evaluate your programs.

Presented by: Deirdre Conner, Nonprofit Center of Northeast Florida

Module 7: Choosing the Right Measures of Success

This session was recorded on 12.7.21.

You understand your program goals, and the work that will help achieve them. Perhaps you even have a logic model or project plan? But how do you measure success? This training will help organizations of any mission area and size define the specific measures of performance and impact that will be feasible, evidence-based, and realistic to capture no matter what capacity and resources are available.
